Education Policy

Moving to one responsible Department

We are failing our Children, their Parents, our Educators and the Country as a whole.

There have been numerous reports, recommendations, and enquiries into our education system all trying to resolve the issue of Australia’s falling education standards by world measurements.

We do not need to continue the revolving door policy of talk fests.

The problem is Political!

We have Seven State/Territory Education Departments plus a Federal Education Department, all with varying political ideologies; this is the very definition of inefficiency.

We cannot blame the Educators; they can only provide an education within the Guidelines and procedures set by the bureaucracies for whom they work.

We have a situation that Education is the responsibility of the State/Territory (States) Governments; however, the Federal Government can manipulate the States by varying the allocation of Federal funds to the States for educational purposes.

The result is that the Sates blame the Federal Government and the Federal Government blames the States for the poor results. Nobody is taking responsibility.

And yet we keep doing the same thing time and time again, expecting a different result. Insanity.

There is only one solution, and that is to make Education the responsibility of One National body.

There will be no one else to blame if they continue to deliver poor education results.

Allocating more funds is not a solution in itself.

We must trust our Educators to deliver a quality education based on a National Minimum Criterion. Give our Educators the freedom and responsibility to adapt their delivery to suit their students.

Our Policy is;

  1. “Focus Vote” -Should we amalgamate our Eight State, Territory and Federal Government Educational Departments into one National Educational Department? This is the first question to ask you, the people, of Australia. If you believe our children will be better served by a single Federal Department controlling the minimum standards across the whole of Australia then this is the only way it can happen. If not, then it remains the Status Quo. It is important that it is put to a “Focus Vote” as this will trigger our “Redundancy Policy” to ensure that, if the people of Australia make this decision to amalgamate then anyone who is adversely affected by this amalgamation has the peace of mind to know that they will be treated with dignity and fairness.
  2. Adopt a Nation-Wide program emphasising the importance of our educators and reinforcing a Zero tolerance policy of all types of violence towards our educators by Students, Parents or fellow Educators and backing this up with severe penalties. Much like the policy undertaken for our emergency service personnel.
  3. Undertake capital works programs, especially in remote and low socio-economic locations to ensure that Staff and Students have access to technological and physical amenities that are enjoyed by schools in other locations.
  4. Initiate a program that concentrates on Staff Moral by providing a nationwide mechanism that allows our Educators to be heard and provide rapid response and support. Our front-line staff are the most important people in our education system.
  5. Give the front-line educators a level of Autonomy to adapt and respond to the challenges they face in the classroom. Give them the responsibility and they will make responsible decisions.

Without a coordinated education system, we will continue our gradual slide in world rankings.
