This Graph shows Electricity by type (Fossil or Renewable) as a percentage of total Production
Fossil Fuel 81.13%
Renewable 18.87%
The renewable figure includes Hydro and Biomass.
Use of Biomass fuel does contribute to the emission of CO2 gases into the atmosphere but is still regarded as a renewable source.

We need to ensure the supply of a consistent, reliable and affordable electricity supply.
Our Coal Fired Power Generation Plants are aging and coming to the end of their life.
Much discussion lately has revolved around Nuclear Power Plants, and although in theory we have a more pragmatic attitude to Nuclear Power the reality is that they are simply too expensive, and will take too long to construct. Some reactors that show real promise (LFTR type) are still in the assessment and experimental stages.
We cannot wait for, nor afford this type of Power Generation with such a small population.
With less than 20% of all electricity generated from renewable resources we are still a long way from being able to complete the 100% transition to Renewable Energy.
Even when we do achieve a high degree of Renewable Electricity supply (sometime over the next 30 to 50 years) there will still be a need for the use of fossil fuel generated Electricity to fill in the gaps and shortfalls.
Globally, GDP is directly influenced by the amount of reliable electricity available.
It is the Policy of the BPA to always implement initiatives that reflect our ETHOS and with this in mind we will immediately undertake to fast track the construction of COMBINED NATURAL GAS TURBINE GENERATORS.
The advantage of this type of Electricity Generation are;
It is the responsibility of Government to ensure that all Australians have reliable electricity so we can continue to Prosper and be Occupied.
*Natural Gas Combined turbines emit 50% to 60% less CO2 per unit of power compared to a Coal Powered Power Station. These turbines can also be modified to run on Hydrogen, once the use of hydrogen becomes economically viable then these turbines will emit heat and water.
