There are less Austrians born overseas as a percentage of total population in 2018 than there were in 1888

A total of 309,142 births were registered in Australia in 2017, resulting in a total fertility rate (TFR) of 1.74 babies per woman, the lowest since 2001.

To maintain a steady population (nil growth, nil loss) TFR needs to be 2.1 babies per woman.

Without immigration we would have a negative population growth.

For the year ending June 2018 Australia received a total of 526,271 Immigrants and had 289,047 Immigrants leaving, giving a net intake of 237,224 (.94% of Australia’s Total Population)

Of the net intake of immigrants 185,978 were on Temporary Visas and 66,682 were granted Permanent Visas

This represents a net intake of permanent Visa immigrants of 0.2646% of Australia’s total population. (25.2 Million)
