Expanding Provisions to Quarantine.....

Should we expand the provision of the Quarantine Act to include Drug addiction and Mental Health issues?

If you had a loved one who was adversely affected by drugs and acting violently or a loved one who was displaying signs of violent Mental Health issues, would you report them to the Police for criminal prosecution or would you rather they were removed from society and given help, even if they did not want the help.

Is the net cost benefit to society worth the effort?

Like most issues the solution is quite simple, however the implications are at contrast with our basic principles.

This is an issue of basic right to freedom, and do we as a society take this freedom away in cases where people are adversely affected by drugs or are suffering mental health issues either of which could lead to violent behaviour.

Is the safety and security of the masses more important than the freedom of these individuals?

These are the arguments that the Committees would address when making their arguments, so you can then decide on whether this is an issue you support or reject.

Like all “Focus Votes” we are not advocating our support or opposition, it is not up to us, it is a decision for the 16 Million Australian Voters to make.
